What is Linksify?

Linksify is a contact information sharing system that gives you complete control over how your information is shared.  Linksify keeps you connected with family, friends, and colleagues—while respecting your need for privacy.  Using Linksify, you can decide not just whom to connect with, but what information to share.  With this added control, you can safely connect with work contacts, passing acquaintances, and distant relationships—as well as friends and family—without revealing every detail about yourself.

What are the benefits of using Linksify?

Once you've connected with someone on Linksify, you'll never have to update your address book with their contact information again.  Any time your contact updates their own information, you'll have it automatically.  No more hunting down addresses for your network of friends just so you can send them a holiday card!

Is Linksify a social network?

No.  Linksify is not a Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, or any other social network.  Linksify is not a place to meet new people or reconnect with old acquaintances.  Linksify is a tool designed to keep people connected with those they already know, by making sure that people's address books are always up-to-date.  We like to think of Linksify as the place to go when the networking is done—to cement connections with those you really want to stay in touch with.

How does Linksify work?

Using Linksify is easy.  After signing up, you simply connect with people you know by using any one of Linksify's three easy connection methods:

  • By sending or receiving Linksify invitations;
  • By giving people your Passkey;
  • By referencing your Webcard on your email signature, business card, etc.

Once you're connected, you'll always have that person's contact information handy.

What are Passkeys?

Passkeys are a patent-pending technology unique to Linksify.  Passkeys are semi-private codes that you select and then distribute or share with people you know.  By providing your Passkey to someone, you are giving him or her an advance acceptance—or "pre-approval"—to connect with you on Linksify and view your selected contact profile.

What are Webcards?

Webcards are semi-public web pages where you can display—at your choosing—selected elements of your contact profile.  Your Webcard is accessed through a unique web link (URL) and your Passkey.  By distributing your Passkey or Webcard URL to someone, you are granting him or her instant access to view one of your permitted contact profiles.  Think of your Webcard as an "online business card".

Will Linksify replace my current address book?

Not necessarily.  Linksify is not meant to replace your existing address book entirely at first.  Linksify's syncing feature is designed to incrementally improve your existing address book by allowing you to intermingle your Linksify contacts with the other contacts in your existing address book, letting you migrate your contacts to Linksify over time.

Remember, each time one of your contacts agrees to exchange contact information with you on Linksify, that is one less record you have to update yourself!

Is the service free?

Yes.  Linksify's system is freely available to and accessible by anyone.  In the future, Linksify will offer a premium service designed for the "power user" that provides advanced features and capabilities for a small yearly fee.

Will my information be used for marketing or promotional purposes?

No.  Absolutely not.  On Linksify, you own your own data, and we will never use your contact information for any reason that you did not intend.  Linksify takes the privacy of its users very seriously and will never sell, rent, or use the contact information contained in your profile for marketing or promotional purposes.  Linksify will only use your primary email address to send you notifications relating to your account (for example, to send you invitations to connect from others), and we may also use your primary phone number to call you back in the event that you request a callback from our support team (we will never call you unsolicited).

Is my information secure?

Linksify takes the security of its users' information very seriously.  Linksify uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption protocols when transmitting sensitive information, such as your contact or credit card information.  An icon resembling a padlock is displayed at the bottom of most browser windows during SSL-encrypted transactions, indicating that your web page is secure.  SSL-encrypted pages are also indicated by a URL address beginning with "https:".
